Adult Programs

These are some of our ongoing adult programs, for more information on current options see our calendar and bulletin.

Chavruta

Chavruta, the Hebrew word for friendship, is based a traditional style of Jewish learning. It offers the opportunity to engage with the Tifereth community and Jewish learning on YOUR schedule. In chavruta, two students sit together to study a text-anything from Midrash to movies-and analyze it as a team in order to help both partners better understand it

Chavruta is open to all and no experience is required.

Gabbai Class

Have you ever wondered if you could be called up for an honor during services? Can you follow along in the prayer book or the Torah in Hebrew but aren’t sure what to do at the bimah? A Gabbai class is for you! It’s never too late to learn a new skill and help the community. Contact the office at office@tifereth.org to learn more.

Introduction to Judaism

Want to learn more about Conservative Judaism, our history, the holidays, and Hebrew? People from all backgrounds are welcome to join our Introduction to Judaism class. Watch the synagogue calendar for details. Those who would like to convert to Judaism must complete this course; make an appointment with Rabbi Barton to learn more.

Would you love to learn to leyn (chant) from our sacred Torah scrolls? As long as you can decode Hebrew (and if you can’t, consider our Hebrew and Gabbai classes), Sue is ready to teach you. Whether you’re a beginner or just need a refresher, contact sue.harris@tifereth.org to start learning today!
