We are honored to share in both the preparation for a Bar or Bat Mitzvah and the special day itself. We hope this milestone will help nurture your family’s Jewish growth and make our synagogue your spiritual home.

Tifereth Israel welcomes family members of other faiths, and offers many ways for them to participate in a meaningful, inclusive celebration. We are also committed to working with individuals with special needs to craft an experience that is both meaningful and appropriate. Adult Bar or Bat Mitzvah

Adult Bar or Bat Mitzvah is a program designed for those who did not have a Bar or Bat Mitzvah as a child or who want a more meaningful experience the second time around.

The program includes intensive study of Hebrew and an exploration of important themes in Jewish history, culture, holidays, literature, and practice. Students learn to chant from the Torah and Haftarah, and to lead services in preparation for their adult Bar or Bat Mitzvah, held on a Shabbat morning with the entire congregation invited.
