Youth and Family Programs

YAD

YAD is a group for families with children, from toddlers on up. Whether they’re painting rocks for the synagogue garden, decorating the sukkah, or dancing the night away at our annual disco party, kids of all ages will find fun ways to engage with Judaism and their families. Beit Sefer Shalom Hebrew school

We are proud to partner with the Jewish Federation of Greater Des Moines to provide Jewish education from pre-K to high school at Beit Sefer Shalom, the Des Moines community supplementary Hebrew and religious school. Children of all denominations come to together to learn, laugh, play, discuss, challenge, and grow. To learn more about Federation programs, visit www.jewishdesmoines.org/.

Kadima and United Synagogue Youth (USY)

Kadima and USY are international Conservative movement youth groups. Kadima is a group for 5th-8th graders which meets several times a year for social events and community projects. 6th-8th graders are eligible to participate in regional retreats and activities.

USY is a fun way for Jewish teens from 9th-12th grade to make friends, learn about Judaism, and become community leaders. In addition to events in Des Moines, there are regional and international events throughout the year. Check our calendar for upcoming events.
